CINCINNATI – The ACLU of Ohio welcomes Elizabeth Hopkins as its new Director of Organizing.
Hopkins, who lives in Cincinnati, comes to the ACLU with many years of leadership and organizing experience, most recently as the regional field manager for Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio. Prior, she served as project director and campaign manager for the AMOS Project in Cincinnati, a faith-based justice movement of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, which she joined as a community organizer in 2016. While a member of OOC’s core team, she helped build-out statewide plans, strategies, and fundraising goals.
Hopkins has served as a campaign consultant to Cincinnati’s Economics of Compassion Initiative, and was a statewide leader in the Issue 1 drug-sentencing reform campaign of 2018.
“Elizabeth has spent most of her career building power for everyday people,” said executive director J. Bennett Guess. “She is exceedingly well-poised to lead the ACLU of Ohio’s organizing staff team and our thousands of justice-minded volunteers across Ohio to make meaningful change happen through our collective will and might.”
Hopkins brings with her a diverse background in non-profit management, leadership and community engagement. “She has significant experience working on many of the ACLU’s priority issues, such as protecting and expanding reproductive freedom and fighting for criminal justice reform,” Guess said.
“The ACLU of Ohio is dream job for me,” Hopkins said. “Since I was young, I’ve always wanted work for this organization. I’m so excited to be here and look forward to build people power across the state with a great team.”
A graduate of Cincinnati State Technical College with a focus on business management, Hopkins is pursuing a degree in organizational leadership from the University of Cincinnati.
