Our Take on This Bill
While there is great need for schools to be safe for all students, the constitutional rights of students also must be preserved. HB 116 has some vagueness regarding electronic bullying between students that may authorize schools to suspend students for behavior in times and places completely removed from school. The bill also does not list traits that would help protect students from bullying by empowering administrators to protect targeted populations.
