COLUMBUS — The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas denied the Ohioans for Secure and Fair Elections campaign any relief from the ballot initiative signature collection requirements, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The following is a statement from Toni Webb, Campaign Manager for Ohioans for Secure and Fair Elections:
“We are disappointed by today’s ruling. Other courts have recognized that, in these unique and extreme circumstances, adjustments to ballot access must be made to protect public health and our democracy. The strong, diverse coalition of voters and organizations that constitute our campaign makes it clear that Ohioans care deeply about voting rights and making common sense changes to Ohio’s voting laws. We continue to look for opportunities to ensure that all eligible Ohioans can have their voices heard and their votes protected. Many states have passed common sense, bipartisan reform measures to make their elections more efficient and accessible. Ohio must do the same.”
