The fight for abortion access and criminal legal reform is a shared struggle for bodily autonomy. Mass incarceration, by its very nature, undermines bodily autonomy and the ability of people in prisons and jails to make decisions about their reproductive well-being. Ongoing legislative and legal threats to abortion access attempt to penalize and criminalize abortion seekers, providers, and their communities.
Join New Voices for Reproductive Justice and the ACLU of Ohio Cuyahoga County Action Team for a reproductive justice teach-in through a criminal legal reform lens. The teach-in provides opportunities to hear and share personal abortion stories, offers language and tools to destigmatize reproductive justice, defines and clarifies organizing terms, uplifts a deepened analysis of abortion criminalization and mass incarceration reform, and concludes with action items supporting the upcoming reproductive freedom ballot measure.
