Sara Tkac has worked as a photographer, a graphic designer, a videographer, a marketing coordinator, and a professor. Before joining the ACLU Ohio, she served as the Digital Media Manager for the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation, revitalizing and transforming neighborhoods, improving the quality of life for Youngstown residents, and reigniting her passion for grassroots community activism.

A committed member of the local arts community in Youngstown since 2001, Sara has showcased her work nationally and internationally. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she also served as a part time faculty member in the College of Art and Design. Her undergraduate study was completed at Youngstown State University, with a major in Photography and minors in Graphic Design and Journalism.

An unyielding supporter of the ACLU, Sara is deeply committed to combating racism, dismantling the patriarchy, and advocating for LGBTQIA and women’s rights. Her dedication to social justice began many years ago when she learned how to fuse her activism with her creative talents, creating posters and stickers related to social issues, which she posted in public spaces. Sara channels her energy and expertise into supporting the ACLU’s mission.

Outside of her work at the ACLU, Sara enjoys creating art, reading, hiking and biking in Mill Creek Park, and spending time with her family.
